WSOR Receives Two Safety Awards during May 2008


Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co. was been awarded the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association’s (ASLRRA) Jake Award for WSOR’s Safety record at their annual convention in San Antonio, Texas May 5th. An ASLRRA member railroad must have a yearly FSI rate better than the industry average. ASLRRA commended WSOR: “Your success in promoting safety serves as a model toward which all railroads msut strive in order to chieve our goals of promoting the rail industry as the safest means of transportation.” WSOR’s president and CEO William Gardner praised employees: “I want to congratulate everyone at WSOR for their hard work and dedication to safety. Each employee’s commitement to safety has been recognized collectively as a distinguished company striving to make our industry the safest means for transporting freight across our country.” WSOR received a plaque signifiying the achievement.

On May 14, 2008 in Washington, DC, the prestigious E.H. Harriman Memorial Institute awarded Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co. with a Certificate of Commendation. WSOR was sited for “being the most improved railroad company in terms of safety from 2006 to 2007 among railroads in the Group C category (between 250,000 and 4,000,000 man-hours).” WSOR is honored for this national recognition and thanks its employees for their dedication to improving safety throughout the WSOR system..
